Reclining Spinal Twist

Reclining Spinal Twist is a popular restorative pose that has many therapeutic benefits. It relieves tension in the hips and shoulders, stretching the outer hips, glutes, lower back, abs, obliques, chest and neck. Additionally, the pose can help to alleviate lower back pain and increase rotational spinal mobility.

– Lie on your back and hug your knees into your chest. Lower one leg to the mat and squeeze your other knee with the opposite hand. Stretch your free arm out to the side, palm facing down. Hook your raised foot behind your inner thigh and gently guide your knee towards the floor across your straight leg. Don’t worry if it doesn’t come all the way down. Let your entire body relax.
–  Seal your lips and breathe in and out through your nose. Stay here for 5-10 breaths and switch side.
