THE GUT RETREAT, MENORCA

NOVEMBER 11th-18th, 2016

BEST FOR:  ANYONE WHO SUFFERS FROM IBS, BOUTS OF DEPRESSION AND ANXIETY, OR  IMMUNITY PROBLEMS
NOT FOR:  THOSE WHO ARE SQUEAMISH TALKING ABOUT THEIR DIGESTION

Nutritionist and editor of The Gut Makeover, Jeannette Hyde believes that ‘to look good and feel good for the duration, we need a diet that creates a high-performance digestive system.’ Which is exactly what The Gut Retreat is all about: immersing yourself in a cutting-edge eating plan designed to restore digestive health and achieve an optimal weight and wellness. The setting is Cugo Gran in Menorca, an 11-bedroom restored farmhouse set on a private, 250-acre estate that comes with a heated pool and gym, terraces for outdoor dining and staff that include a chef, butler and housekeeper. You’ll feel extremely well looked after. During the retreat, Jeanette works closely with the chef to devise Mediterranean-inspired gut-friendly meals (gluten and grain free), often using ingredients from the estate’s kitchen and herb gardens. To complement the eating plan, there are pilates classes (both individual and group) with Bernadette Phillips, renowned for her sport-focused approach aimed at improving flexibility and improving core strength and posture. There are also yoga sessions, and organised trips out to lovely local beaches and sights. Our top tip? Walk, bike or horse ride along the famous Cami de Cavalls, an ancient path that encircles the island. Invigorating. Above all though, this is a place to learn better eating habits that you can take away for a healthier, happier gut. If you suffer from a sensitive digestion system this could be for you.
